  1. Hello, I am interested in nature photography–especially insect photography. I am a college student on a budget and would like to know the best and cheapest camera/lens combo for insect photography. If you could please e-mail me with some suggestions. Thank you-Kenneth

    • Hi Ken,

      I’m a Nikon guy so I will give you a Nikon answer. You might want to look at other vendors too.
      Some small sensor compacts would actually do a good job for you. The small sensor offers excellent Depth of Field and that would be important. If you want to go a bit bigger, an entry level APS-C DSLR with the 85mm DC Micro-Nikkor.
      If you get your kit with the 55-200mm then you could actually get very good results with achromat lenses like the Raynox 150 or 250.
      If you click on the ‘shooting closeups’ in the right menu here you will see several posts in regards to shooting macro. I also try to indicate what kit I was using for bugs as well so any of the micro work might be of interest.
