A Couple More Sunsets with Boats and Pelicans
Saturday evening, I looked out the window and saw a really fiery sunset. I made my way to Ponce Park to find that everyone else had gone to watch it too and finding a quiet space without a lot of … Continue reading

A cloudless sunset
We usually get spectacular sunsets when there are a few clouds to capture color. Sometimes there is enough haze to get on color over the entire sky. When you get one like this you need something to add to it. … Continue reading

Pair A Lelicans
Photographically, not a great shot. The bird in front is a bit soft and the wingtip of the following bird touches the edge of the frame. I couldn’t resist the play on words for a title though.

Sunsets aren’t always about the color

More Flying Flies
I found a pair of Four-spotted Aphid Flies (Dioprosopa clavata) in a mating flight at a pond near the intersection of Marion and Ponce De Leon Blvd in Punta Gorda. It’s actually a nectar eater as an adult but … Continue reading
Dolphin Photo-op
I was along with neighbors to take their boat down the harbor for fuel and lunch. Porpoises frequently meet boats after they clear the Ponce De Leon Park Channel and surf along on the bow wave. We had the pleasure … Continue reading

At Last
We were away for a few days and when I returned, the young heron had finally left the nest. Now I can start looking for other things to shoot while I’m on my walk. Oh, wait, there is another pair … Continue reading
Sole Survivor
The other morning I went down to Ponce Park after a few days of poor weather. It was still cool and somewhat misty. Having missed a few days I had figured that the remaining juvenile Great Blue Heron would have … Continue reading

Afraid of heights?
Another trip to see if the last of the pair of Great Blue Herons had left the nest. ‘Chicken’ was quite active but still couldn’t make the change from nestling to full flight. I watched it for about 20 minutes … Continue reading
